Slow Cut / 2010
Single channel 16:9 video, infinite loop, stereo sound
This video shows me repeatedly cutting one piece of my hair in slowmotion. I took one second of footage and extended it to last about 6 seconds. The affect is that barely anything moves except for my hand and the scissors. When viewed, this work could easily be deceived as a digital photograph. The subtle motion of just the hand and scissors begs to question the reality of the scene and its roboticness. With this video, time is considered as a complex medium, one in which things are revealed sequentially but can be manipulated to become potentially infinite and non-linear, contingent to memory and experience.
